Deshani Ellis

Deshani Ellis is an associate in Quinn Emanuel’s Los Angeles office. Her practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, including in areas of criminal defense, entertainment law, crisis law and strategy, employment law, financial litigation, intellectual property, government investigation, and antitrust matters.

Prior to rejoining the firm, Deshani served as a Deputy District Attorney in the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office, where she managed various aspects of both misdemeanor and felony cases. She appeared in court daily, leading numerous trials to verdict and conducting over 100 hearings, including preliminary hearings, motions to suppress, and motions to dismiss.

Deshani worked as a judicial law clerk for two years in the district court level.  She also served as a judicial law clerk to Magistrate Judge Mark Dinsmore in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.  She gained extensive experience with complex discovery disputes, privilege issues, and pretrial motions, and is well-versed in resolving all discovery-related matters.

Deshani was also as an associate at a large international law firm where she represented clients in a range of complex litigation matters, including multidistrict litigation. She also has experience in all aspects of litigation in state and federal courts, including drafting motions, working with experts, leading document review teams, preparing fact and expert witnesses for depositions, and pretrial and trial preparation. Additionally, she’s represented companies and individuals in investigations by the SEC and DOJ related to alleged violations of the securities laws.

Prior to attending law school, Deshani served as a Teach for America corps member in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
