Dr. Mariamo Katharina Ilal is a German qualified attorney (Rechtsanwältin) and an associate in Quinn Emanuel’s Berlin office. She joined the firm in 2024. Her practice focuses on complex administrative proceedings and litigation covering all aspects of administrative and regulatory law. She further advises on patent and commercial law matters.

Mariamo completed her legal clerkship at the Berlin Court of Appeals after having inter alia clerked for an attorney at the German Federal High Court (Bundesgerichtshof). As a scholarship holder (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes) she received a Ph.D. (Dr. iur.) from Humboldt University Berlin. Her dissertation focuses on mechanisms in procedural law addressing the conflict between procedural fairness and the need for secrecy when court files contain confidential information. Her Ph.D. thesis was awarded the Horst-Sendler-Prize by the German Federal Administrative Court (Bundesverwaltungsgericht). Mariamo holds law degrees from the Humboldt University Berlin (First State Examination), from Université Panthéon-Assas in Paris (maîtrise en droit) and from King’s College London (LL.M.).
