Paul is a German qualified attorney (Rechtsanwalt) and Associate in Quinn Emanuel’s Berlin office. He joined the firm in 2023. His practice focuses on commercial and IP litigation with a particular emphasis on patent litigation. Paul represents national and international clients before the Unified Patent Court and German courts, in opposition proceedings at the EPO and in nullity actions before the German Patent Court.
His expertise covers all aspects of complex patent litigation involving a broad range of technologies, including telecommunications, IT, automotive and medical products. He also has specific experience in advising clients regarding standard essential patents (SEP) and FRAND issues in licensing negotiations and litigation.
Prior to joining the firm, Paul worked as an associate for a major international law firm. While there, he advised international clients in complex global antitrust and foreign direct investment control matters. He also worked as research associate and junior lecturer at Humboldt University Berlin. His research focused primarily on contract law and antitrust policy in the digital economy.
During his legal clerkship he worked, inter alia, for a renowned US law firm and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs.
